Location: Boston, MA (Travel up to 3 hours from Boston required)
Reports to: Brian Smith, Company Owner and Head DJ and Lighting DesignerCompensation: Starting at $30/hour with 4-hour minimum calls, W-2 employment (eligible for workman's comp and unemployment benefits)
Job Summary:
A Mixlux Event Tech dedicated and skilled to assist our DJ and other talents in the technical production and physical aspects of setting up and striking events. They are responsible for loading and unloading equipment, setting up audio, DJ, and lighting equipment, ensuring the safety of talent, staff, and guests, and maintaining the talent's comfort during performances. This role requires familiarity with pro audio, lighting, and DJ equipment, along with skills in videography and photography to capture content for social media and marketing.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Setup and Teardown:
Load and unload equipment from vehicles.
Set up and strike audio, DJ, and lighting equipment.
Ensure all equipment is safely and properly handled and stored.
Meet designated setup and teardown timelines.
Safety and Maintenance:
Ensure the safety of talent, staff, and guests in relation to equipment setups.
Maintain and care for all equipment, preventing damage and ensuring longevity.
Adhere to safety protocols, including safe ladder use and best lifting practices.
Support During Events:
Support the talent during performances (e.g., ensuring adequate hydration, watching over performance equipment during talent restroom breaks, taking music requests, etc.).
Use the company-provided equipment to capture high-quality videos and photos for social media and marketing.
Collaboration and Customer Service:
Work closely with other event vendors, including but not limited to venue coordinators, planners, photographers, videographers, and caterers.
Exhibit excellent customer service and social interaction skills with clients and guests.
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, acting as a representative of Mixlux.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 pounds independently and endure long hours on feet.
Ability to climb ladders safely and use basic tools.
Valid driver’s license.
Physical endurance to maintain quality work over long and/or physical days.
No smoking or alcohol consumption during events.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with DJing or DJ equipment.
Familiarity with pro audio and professional lighting equipment.
Skills in videography or photography.
Experience in the live events or music industry.
High level of customer service and ability to work well with a team.
Have a personal motor vehicle for transportation to and from events.
Ability to drive cargo vans or box trucks up to 16 feet.
Work Environment:
Work in various environments, both indoors and outdoors.
Conditions may range from cold to extreme heat.
Requires travel, late hours, and primarily weekend work.
Typical work hours are from mid-morning until well after midnight.
